Mirrors as spirit portals.
Throughout history, folklore, and many cultures, mirrors are believed to be portals for spiritual beings and entities to enter our dimensional plane. Personally, I have always loved having mirrors hanging in every room of my home. However, I do avoid looking into mirrors when I'm up in the middle of the night...and there was an incident when I was a teenager where I watched my face change into someone else's while staring into a mirror...and my older daughter witnessed a crow and man come out of the mirror in her room only to step back into it (this will be a blog post soon). Until recently, I've never given too much thought to the belief that mirrors can be portals.
Some backstory:
My mom and I have often received in our channeling that it's important to be aware of what you're watching and/or listening to, as it can affect your personal vibration and what you attract to you. Over the past few months, I found an interesting podcast that explores different beings and entities of a spiritual nature. It discusses folklore, cultural stories, historical hauntings, and personal accounts of others who also listen to the podcast. Listening to it not only helped to explain some of the experiences I had been having, but it also inadvertently opened me up to more spiritual experiences of my own.
My younger daughter's room all of a sudden became a hotspot of spiritual activity. The overhead light in her room began to flicker all the time, her nightmares became more frequent and intense, she was suddenly afraid to be in her room by herself at bedtime, and I started hearing unexplained noises coming from her room. The last straw was when she came running out of her room telling me that she thought a ghost was in her room because she watched a stack of papers fly off of her desk.
I won't lie, the energy in her room had made me feel uneasy, and I had been energetically clearing her room and calling on Archangel Michael to keep the energy high-vibrational and to keep her safe for weeks. Nothing seemed to work long-term. I could feel a dense, heavy energy around the mirror in her room, but couldn't understand why...until an episode of the podcast I had been listening to covered a story about a mirror being a spiritual portal. After this episode, I began having visions of an older woman attached to my daughter, as well as seeing visions of all sorts of lower vibrational entities traveling in and out of my daughter's room using the mirror.
This is when I began using my sage and palo santo candle to clear my home, and often sensed a male presence following me after I finished working in my daughter's room. I finally shared what was going on with my mom, and she channeled that Archangel Ariel was the archangel to call on for help because of her connection to children as well as to Nature and beings of denser vibrations. I had already been working with Ariel to help my daughter with her nightmares, so I felt reassured to already be on the right track.
I also realized that many of these beings were co-existing in our space. They only felt aggressive, for lack of a better word, when I tried to force them to leave. That's when I shifted how I went about clearing and protecting the energy of my home.
I set the intention that beings of the light who have no ill intent toward us were welcome to share our space - if they could respect us, we would respect them - but any who were not of the light were not welcome to stay in our home. I set the intention that my children would not be bothered or scared by any being that respectfully co-existed with us. Archangel Ariel showed me in a vision that a path was created from the mirror in my daughter's room directly outside, so she is protected and unbothered by any comings and goings of the entities that come through the mirror.
About a week ago, it dawned on me that when I listened to the podcast, spiritual activity happened in my home. So, I made the decision to stop listening. Ever since, the lights have not flickered in my daughter's room, the woman is no longer attached to my daughter, the mirror does not feel energetically heavy, I have not felt the need to cleanse my home, and the energy has remained light.
