Benefits of Essential Oils Crash Course: Part 3

Aromatherapy and the use of essential oils can promote healing spiritually and emotionally. Just as the therapeutic properties for essential oils can't be generalized, neither can their uses for spiritual practices.

When we smell, the inhaled aromas stimulate the limbic system (responsible for instinctual and emotional responses, and memory storage and retrieval) and the cerebral cortex (which allows us to think, learn, and create). These two systems have a huge impact on who we are and how we respond. The sense of smell directly impacts these two systems; it holds the key to unlocking emotional baggage in the form of repressed negativity.

Spiritual healing requires that you look deep within yourself. In order to become the person you were born to be, as well as to make strides on your own life's path, any negative feelings or emotional attachments to certain situations that do not benefit who you are must be examined, accepted, and let go. Essential oils can stir those memories to bring these emotions to your conscious mind.

With that said, your intuition will be your guiding force when using the oils as a spiritual tool for healing.

Many oils have properties that have been used in ancient and modern times to aide in spiritual rituals and healing (access more information here).

"Emotions & Essential Oils" (see below) is fantastic book explaining how essential oils can be used to promote emotional healing.
